About The Project
Our competition entry for a new Dining Hall and Lower School teaching facility at Alleyn’s School includes new buildings as well as creating new spaces to mediate between the old and new. One such space is the central Atrium which links the Old Gym to our new building. The design takes into account phasing and plans for future refurbishment of nearby buildings. As well as respecting the context of the tight site, our concept focuses on how students and staff will use the buildings and optimises legibility and circulation. The scheme includes a large modern dining hall, central kitchen, top-lit upper space to enhance circulation routes, a sixth-form centre, nature garden and communal spaces for both teaching and socialising.
