New Entrance, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital

About The Project

The new main entrance for Guy's Hospital greatly improves the experience of patients by dealing with both the adverse local micro climate and the increase in footfall, as a result of the closure of the hospital entry from London Bridge Station in association with the adjacent 'Shard' development. A full width projecting canopy protects new revolving doors, which are designed to minimise draughts into the reception area at the same time as accommodating up to 11,000 entrances and exits per day. The design also provides an additional dedicated entrance for Patient Transport Services. A key issue was delivering the works whilst maintaining the use of the entrances throughout.
