The buildings were opened by HRH The Duke of Gloucester, on a beautiful Autumn day which displayed the architecture in its full glory. A new Mathematics department and a totally remodelled Engineering department complement the existing Science labs, to bring all the curriculum areas together for the first time. The design of the Engineering department was developed in collaboration with Cambridge University.
There is also a dramatic new entrance and foyer for the Campus, providing much needed space for functions and a new front door, which the previous scheme lacked. The new Mathematics building is clad in local Clipsham stone to harmonise with the existing Science building, and to bring some clarity to the whole STEM Campus.
A close working relationship with the School has given them a state of the art facility which will see STEM develop as an integrated discipline, and provide pupils with an inspirational stepping stone to higher education or industry.
