We are delighted to have secured planning permission and listed building consent for Sacred Heart School to transform the vacant Bute Hall into a new sixth form centre and teaching spaces.
The project will create a large, dedicated sixth form social space to enhance school life, while simultaneously securing a viable future for the valuable historic building. Sensitive reconfiguration will simplify the internal plan arrangement and accentuate the existing building’s fantastic character. The timber roof trusses will be revealed once more, and the building’s thermal performance will be significantly upgraded by carefully retrofitting insulation appropriate to the historic building fabric. Externally, the building will be revitalised by the replacement of poor quality modern glazing with high-performance, energy efficient doors, windows and rooflights more appropriate to their context.
We’re really looking forward to breathing new life into this fantastic building, and to seeing the students and staff of Sacred Heart School put it to good use for many years to come.
