FWA are continuing to
reduce the ground levels to allow for the new floor build-up – insulation,
limecrete slab and screen and the stone slabs. Human remains are discovered
frequently, all carefully boxed up and stored on site following recording by
ULAS
At the south –east corner
of the chancel the columbarium ledger slab is lifted, including the slab
section providing access to the interred jars of ashes below. Elsewhere on site
another large vault is discovered, complete with a single coffin. A complicated
methodology has to be devised with FWA, ULAS and P&M to allow FWA to lower
the level of the vault without removing the coffin – it isn’t safe for anyone
to go into the vault.
Arthur Brandon’s slab
stored on site, complete with its concrete backing, and awaiting further
investigation.
