Planning permission granted for Leicester Cathedral Revealed
Project to reorder key spaces and add a heritage & learning extension gets the green light
Our designs for the Leicester Cathedral Revealed project have been approved by both the CFCE and local planning officers.
The project aims to expand facilities in order to deal with vastly increased visitor numbers since the Richard III reinterral in 2015 and includes a new extension building which will provide an orientation gallery, education space, a research base, and vital cathedral back-of-house facilities and storage areas. The HLC will replace the existing Old Song School extension and will be spread over 4 floors, with two above ground and a double basement.
The phased construction programme is expected to complete in 2022.
