About The Project
We were commissioned by Centros to produce a feasibility study for an infill development in Southampton town centre which would create a new pedestrian street to link two elements of the retail offer of Southampton. The scheme required the successful integration of a portion of the existing city wall. It includes substantial A3 provision on the ground level and on terraces overlooking the wall, a series of units for independent retailers and catering and a small multiplex on upper levels, plus private and social housing on the perimeter of the block. The external space was conceived as a series of usable, human-scale linked places along a pedestrian street.
