Edward Alleyn Building, Alleyn's School, London
About The Project
We take pride in the frequency with which we do work for repeat clients. We were invited to take part in the design competition for a new Performing Arts Centre at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich by the headmaster, who had previously been head at Latymer School when we had built a theatre and arts centre there.
At
both schools the priority was to create a new heart and develop a
long-term masterplan, as much as it was about the new buildings. The
Edward Alleyn Building includes a 350 seat theatre, teaching
facilities and a studio theatre for use by the National Youth
Theatre. A new terrace opens off the foyer, allowing views over the
playing fields. A double quad between the new and existing school
buildings creates a new focus for the school community, both
physically and socially.
