Sci-Tec Campus, Oundle School
About The Project
As well as the feasibility work we have undertaken for a new sports centre and sports masterplan at Oundle School, we have now completed an extension to the existing science and engineering facilities. The design adds new mathematics classrooms adjacent to the existing science department, as well as addressing entrance and circulation issues in the existing SciTec 1 building with a dramatic new double height foyer. A new ‘front door’ has been created to this area of the school. Staff workrooms, open-plan voluntary learning breakout spaces for science and mathematics, and project rooms for senior pupils are included within the project. The scheme transforms the adjacent engineering department to create a 21-century facility and enhances the provision for extra-curricular activities. A new landscaped ‘technology’ court is created between the two buildings. Our design has been informed by debates with the teachers and academics about how best to deliver the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) curriculum.
