Record & Restore

Gloria’s drawings record the timber sections of the existing windows, or their remaining parts in the case of the H.1 type, to allow the tendering subcontractors for the main works to check their details.

In the Power Hall the plaster to the Gallery has been removed, exposing the blocked up porthole windows on the inside – and some old cracks for Price and Myers (the structural engineers) to decide whether they need to be stitched. Helpfully, our predecessors didn’t bother to course the brickwork into the circular window reveals, leaving the plaster in place, which will make it much easier to restore them.
