We take pride in the frequency with which we do work for repeat clients. We were invited to take part in the design competition for a new Performing Arts Centre at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich by the headmaster, who had previously been head at Latymer School when we had built a theatre and arts centre there.
At both schools the priority was to create a new heart and develop a long-term masterplan, as much as it was about the new buildings. The Edward Alleyn Building includes a 350 seat theatre, teaching facilities and a studio theatre for use by the National Youth Theatre. A new terrace opens off the foyer, allowing views over the playing fields. A double quad between the new and existing school buildings creates a new focus for the school community, both physically and socially.
