English Heritage East of England Headquarters, Brooklands

With this project English Heritage was anxious to showcase how to upgrade an existing building. We were commissioned as a result of our impressive track record of working with listed buildings. The project entailed upgrading and extending Brooklands, a listed 19th century house, as well as converting stables and outbuildings to offices and ancillary uses. A structurally glazed reception links the main house with the stable block and establishes a new focus to the site, and one which is more open to the public.

The particular challenge here was working, in effect, for two clients;  English Heritage in London and the East of England branch office, ensuring that everyone’s concerns were met and that we delivered the very best result, worthy of a notable listed building.
