Gloucester Blackfriars

We were employed to develop a design for a new museum and visitor centre at Blackfriars as part of a Stage II Heritage Lottery Bid. The key challenge was to produce a scheme that would address sensitively the constraints imposed by the Grade I listed buildings and the archaeology across the site, and at the same time result in a modern state of the art museum. The design proposes a new entrance building with visitor facilities, providing a new gateway to the site. The galleries are housed in a second new building, which carefully reinstates the footprint of the cloister and provides new galleries for the collection.
