Jubilee Library, Luckley House School

The new Learning Resource Centre at Luckley House School houses a new Library, Sixth Form Studies and Careers Centre under one roof. The exterior is clad entirely in timber to reflect the 1940s ‘Woodlands’ classroom block adjacent to it. As is often the case with our education projects, we were asked to advise on an appropriate site for the new building. We chose the lowest point of the site which was boggy and therefore unsuitable for recreational purposes. It also has the advantage of facing the school hall. The building completes the lower lawn as a three sided quad and steps up to the sweeping lawn of the Arts and Crafts house by Ernest Newton at the heart of the campus.
