Although freestanding, the building is designed to supplement the existing music department by linking to the practice’s original Arts Centre across two new glazed bridges. The main recital space seats 100 while separate studios provide areas for dance, drama and music rehearsal. A fully glazed foyer opens to the newly landscaped heart of the school.
Working together with specialist audio visual, theatrical lighting suppliers and services engineers the Latymer Performing Arts Centre was equipped with state-of-the-art and future-proof recording and play-back facilities to all parts of the building (performance spaces, music practice rooms and classrooms) operating from a dedicated control room; this provision also extended to foyer areas and to the landscape surrounding the building.
