St Mary’s and Middle Row Schools Competition

The brief for this short listed design competition for the borough’s flagship Primary Capital Programme project (under their Primary Strategy for Change), is to bring together two schools on existing and adjacent sites in a deprived quarter of West London. The idea is to develop a Campus Strategy which embraces the creation of the ‘extended school’ organised around a shared public space at the junction of the schools. This new square provides an entry point to the schools, nurseries and community facilities. It is a space where parents and children can assemble before and after the school day. The design of the individual schools is different, reflecting their unique characters and the nature of their sites.
