Thank you to everyone who joined us on our Passivhaus site tour around St Benedict’s Junior School site last Thursday, as part of Green Sky Thinking Week 2017.
The tour was our chance to communicate what Passivhaus is and how it can be used – the benefits and the challenges. Walking around a working site was the perfect opportunity to explore both the concepts and practicalities behind building a Passivhaus school, as well as to debunk many of the negative myths which often deter clients from choosing it as a method of construction. In fact, evidence shows that Passivhaus buildings are performing to standard, which is crucial, as the discrepancy between design aspiration and as-built performance for many new buildings in the UK can be as much as 50-100%.
Our project at St Benedict’s is progressing well, and we are excited to be supporting the development of the Passivhaus standard in the education sector. At vHH we are always exploring how the newest technologies can help both us as a provider to be more efficient and innovative, as well as allowing the client more options in terms of flexibility of working, and cost-efficiency.
